COMPLIMENTARY, ALTERNATIVE AND NATURAL THERAPIES

WHAT IS HEALTH?

Health is the 'state of complete physical, mental and social well being'. W.H.O. 1946

For complete health it is necessary to take care of your mind, body and soul.  These aspects of health are all interlinked so that if one is suffering then it inevitably has an effect on the others.  It therefore follows that as one of these aspects becomes stronger then positive effects will be felt on other areas of your life.

WHAT IS ALTERNATIVE HEALTH CARE?

The word 'alternative' when applied to medicine and healing covers a whole multitude of techniques and therapies that in general are not taught in Traditional Western Medical Schools.  Some of these therapies are ancient in origin and others are relatively modern.

True Alternative Medicines are an 'alternative' to orthodox medicine and are in their own right complete systems of healing which take the patient from diagnosis through to treatment.

Examples of Alternative Medicine include:

Acupuncture, Ayurvedic Medicine, Chinese Medicine, Homeopathy, Naturopathy and others:

WHAT IS COMPLIMENTARY HEALYH CARE?

These are therapies that compliment other medical interventions.  There is generally no diagnosis involved by the practitioner but the methods used may help relieve symptoms, decrease stress, increase vitality, increase motivation, increase self-esteem, increase will power, increase confidence etc.  All of these positive processes will compliment other treatments.  Complimentary Therapies also contribute significantly to a healthier lifestyle and quality of life.  Many complimentary techniques can be either practiced by a therapist or practiced as a self healing technique.

Examples of Complimentary health include:

Aroma therapy, Flower Remedies, Massage, Reflexology, Reiki, Meditation, Tai chi, Autogenic training and many more:

WHAT IS NATURAL HEALTH?

This is the term which refers to systems of therapy which utilize the patients natural recovery processes and may also use natural products to effect healing.  Natural healing has been practiced for millennia within different cultures and 'incidentally' within different animal groups.   As an individual you can help yourself to better health through natural means.

Examples of Natural health include: Homeopathy, Naturopathy, Nutrition and others:
